Alamo Pharma Services Training Leaders Take Steps to Further Expand Capabilities for Mission Pharmacal and Other Clients
Cutting-edge training helps Alamo’s experienced leaders develop successful specialized sales teams.
DOYLESTOWN, PA (June 30, 2015) — During the first week of June, Alamo Pharma Services national sales training leaders Lora Posey (Manager, National Sales Training and Development) and Chuck Corso (Associate Sales Trainer) participated in the 44th Annual Life Sciences Trainers and Educators Network (LTEN) Conference in Phoenix, AZ. LTEN brings together learning and development professionals from more than 300 life sciences companies around the globe to network, develop, and fine-tune their training and education skills.
“The LTEN Conference is the perfect place to stay ahead of the learning curve on the latest market and healthcare changes, new innovations, and learning formats,” says John Sjovall, Jr., President, LTEN. “Training and education for a company is a force multiplier. “This is my third year attending the LTEN conference, and it’s a great forum to explore new ideas and ways to improve our training and development programs. For example, we share best practices with peers in other companies related to new hire training, continued learning, management development, and increasing value to key stakeholders,” says Posey. “Chuck Corso and I divide and conquer to attend as many of the workshop tracks as possible so we can pass the latest information on to our teams about current topics such as global learning, healthcare reform and managed markets, impact and measurement, and mobile and e-learning.”

I strive to bring my field experience and understanding of the industry from a representative’s perspective into our training philosophy and delivery,” says Posey. “We approach training of our representatives from a service or value mindset — instead of telling a physician or healthcare provider (HCP) what we would like them to do, we focus on the patient’s needs and how our products and services can meet those needs to improve the total treatment experience for patients, HCPs, and office staff.”
The Alamo training leadership team also has hands-on product launch expertise. Posey has sold many of Mission’s current products herself, has recently trained multiple sales teams to launch three products, and is currently working with teams to launch three more. “Being involved from the start of a product’s launch has given me a deeper understanding of the process, marketing strategies, and brand planning. This firsthand knowledge enhances our training and development programs,” says Posey.
Looking to the future, Posey plans to focus on advanced training for Mission’s tenured representatives and to continue to develop the Regional Sales Trainer Program that she launched. These field-based trainers, who are also full-time representatives, provide field intelligence and training for representatives on all Mission sales team across the country. Posey plans to grow and develop the Management Development and Marketing Development Programs that were initiated at Mission Pharmacal. “The LTEN conference and additional training forums help us to maximize these programs’ impact and value by providing ideas, support, and best practice sharing,” says Posey.
Posey’s team’s experience and insights are paying off to support company goals. Mission is expanding with a new primary care sales force to complement the work of specialized dermatology, urology, pediatric, and women’s health teams.
